The Future of Cellular Broadband with WLL and VOIPChances are you’ve already heard at least a small amount about voice over internet protocol (VOIP). Even if you haven’t heard of it you will soon, as many phone companies are turning to cellular broadband with wireless local loop (WLL) and VOIP. This is because WLL and VOIP allow people to make phone calls with their high-speed Internet connection through a router or wireless local loop. This basically means you get free long distance or unlimited long distance for a low set price depending on the service you sign up for. The concept of cellular broadband with WLL and VOIP is similar to the Internet connection and provider which allows you to send unlimited email messages. The AdvantagesWhen it comes to cellular broadband with WLL and VOIP, both offer you an affordable means to make your long distance calls and you may even be able to transfer your current phone number to one of the systems depending on where you live. Both systems are easy to use. Depending on the service and method you select your installation may only require the downloading of software or attaching an adaptor to your computer such as a 3G router, GPRS router, UMTS router, EDGE router or USB modem router. When making a call it sounds same as a traditional telephone line so even if the other person isn’t on a similar system they won’t be able to tell the difference.Cellular routers or 3G Routers as they are sometimes called can provide you shared internet access. They not only allow you to go online but they also allow you to make voice calls, all from the convenience of the same modem. You can choose to get the compact cellular modem and the router within the same device or you can get a modular device which can connect your cellular modem to the router. The DisadvantagesAs with all areas of technology, there are always some disadvantages to consider and cellular broadband with WLL and VOIP is no different. The main disadvantage is that some areas don’t yet have this technology available, but you can still have long distance services you just need to have a separate number. For some this can be an inconvenience, but this can be offset by the savings you accumulate—it depends entirely on your long distance phone needs. Then there are the technical issues which are still being worked out such as a slight delay at the beginning of your call. Most importantly not all providers allow you to dial out for emergencies. Before changing your landline or mobile completely to a WLL or VOIP system you should research this fact thoroughly.Do You Need Cellular Broadband with WLL and VOIP?Whether or not you choose to get cellular broadband with WLL and VOIP will depend on your individual needs. For those who make a lot of long distance calls, it may well be worth your time and money to consider these services. You can often get long distance services for a much cheaper price through WLL and VOIP services than you can with a traditional provider. Your comparison of WLL and VOIP services with that of your current cell phone program depends a lot on your needs. The majority of WLL and VOIP packages are much less than the cost of unlimited calling plans for a cell phone. However, you much keep in mind that cellular broadband with WLL and VOIP isn’t as flexible yet when it comes to portability and other features. So carefully consider this before giving up your cell phone plan.Related ArticlesInternet Telephony - Convergence of TechnologiesThe Future of Telephony-VoIP Wireless VOIP – Is It Really Secure?
