Don’t Share Files But Speak Views: VoIP Conferencing

Voice Conferencing has supported the growing VoIP industry. Its precursor the chat rooms and communities have showed how conferencing can be done. But then conferencing can be done on a smaller scale with a more result oriented approach. Voice conferencing in business applications is precisely where the growth of the audio conferencing and video conferencing is taking place. A more generic term called Web conferencing is used. Web conference is basically a conference of people over the web.

VoIP conferencing is having an audio conference over the internet and is similar to that over analog telephones. A server called the conference bridge allows multiple people to talk to one another. The data over here is in the form of packets over the IP network. Conference calling capabilities are a part of every VoIP service. Mostly this is offered for free. In case of wanting to conference with large numbers then the service is charged. This can be availed by business through a service upgrade in case they want it.

Voip conference needs the use of a telephone number and personal identification number. That is for phone conferences via the internet the participants need to dial into the conference bridge. The participants need a special dial-in telephone number and PIN. In case you intend to invite anyone else into the conference you need to provide him/her the dial-in number and PIN.

Yet another method for VoIP conferences is the requirement of the right hardware, a modem of high bandwidth and special software. You can chat over the internet. VoIP conference software is free with the various messenger services available like Microsoft’s NetMeeting, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, etc. You could even do a video conference and share files as well.
Preventions of Sound Quality Problems
Conference call equipment is important to sound quality. Always use a phone with a handset that is hardwired into the connector. Testing the equipment before the meeting is always necessary. And knowing how to use the equipment is always helpful. Other tips are
  • Avoid Speaker phones as they introduce background noise into the call
  • In case of meeting use the mute button to prevent the noise from increasing or disrupting the meeting
  • When some one wants to speak release the mute button and talk
  • Avoid cell phones or mobile or cordless phones as they pick up static disturbances in the airwaves and create disturbances
  • In case of bad connection hang up and connect again
